AC Tune-Ups & Maintenance in Modesto, CA

The right time to find a weak part is in April, not on the first 105°F afternoon in July. A tune-up catches the parts most likely to fail in the heat.

Request an HVAC technician

Your request goes to an independent local HVAC technician. No spam, no sales calls.

What's included

Cleaning the outdoor coil, checking the indoor coil and blower, testing capacitors and contactors, tightening electrical connections, checking refrigerant pressures, flushing the drain line and testing the thermostat.

Capacitors

Capacitors help motors start. Heat weakens them, and they're one of the most common summer failures. A tune-up tests them before they quit.

Coil cleaning

Farm dust, pollen and cottonwood fluff build up on outdoor coils. A clean coil sheds heat more easily and keeps the compressor cooler.

Filters

Check filters monthly during cooling and smoke seasons, and replace them when dirty.

Drain lines

Condensation drains can clog with algae and dust, causing leaks around indoor units. See the drain diagram below.

Furnace check

A fall check of the furnace or heat pump catches ignition and airflow problems before the cold mornings arrive.

Warranties

Some manufacturers require regular maintenance. Keep the records.

Signs you're overdue

Rising bills, longer run times, weaker airflow, new noises or a system that can't hold temperature in the late afternoon all suggest it's time for service.

What you can do between visits

Keep two to three feet clear around the outdoor unit, change filters on schedule, and keep supply and return vents open and unblocked by furniture or rugs.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I service my AC?
Once a year before summer is a good routine; homes with heavy dust or smoke may need filters changed more often.
Can I hose off my outdoor unit?
Gently, with the power off at the disconnect. Avoid pressure washers.
