AC Repair in Turlock

Turlock at a glance

Turlock is the second-largest city in Stanislaus County, with 72,740 people at the 2020 census, between Modesto and Merced on Route 99. It's home to California State University, Stanislaus.

What that means for your AC

Turlock's July average high is about 104°F, with an average of 78 days a year at 90°F or higher. Systems here run hard for months, and older, undersized units can't keep up on the hottest afternoons. A correctly sized replacement makes a big difference; see AC installation. If one room is always hotter than the rest, the ducts to that room are often leaking or undersized.

Student rentals

Homes near the university are often rentals, where filters get forgotten and systems run constantly. Landlords can prevent breakdowns with a yearly service and filter plan; see AC tune-ups.

Named from a novel

John William Mitchell founded the town on December 22, 1871, but declined to have it named after him. The name Turlock is thought to come from the Irish village of Turlough, possibly by way of a story printed in Harper's Weekly in 1870. Today the city's biggest employers include Foster Farms and Emanuel Medical Center. Average annual rain is under 12 inches, and dust from surrounding farmland settles on outdoor coils all summer.
